The Rotary Club of Tyler - Ninth Annual Chili Cook-Off

Location - 4202 South Broadway and Loop 323 (First Christian Church), Tyler, TX.

The Rotary Club of  Tyler welcomes you to our Ninth Annual Chili Cook-Off. Wander through and observe chili cooks doing their thing. They love to talk Chili! Some will even be putting on a show, trying to impress our Showmanship Judges. This is fun for the family!

Ticket Information

Tickets for this event are only $5.00 per person; children under 5 are free. Tickets entitle holders to the Rotary Club's Shanghi Jimmy's chili plus the chili cooks' throwdown Chili, as well as a cold drink.

What is throwdown Chili? It's Chili made like you and I make it, and not meant for competition.

Entry Information

Entry fee for cooks is only $20.00! Awards and prizes will be given for chili and showmanship. Goody bags while supplies last. Tents, tables, and chairs for the public. CASI rules apply and chili must be cooked on the premises. Every chili cook must use an outdoor cooking Coleman stove or grill. Must have fire extinguisher. Limited RV parking. No hookups. Bring your throwdown chili for tasting by the public.

10:00 a.m. Chili Cooks' Meeting
10:15 a.m. Showmanship Cooks' Meeting
11:00 a.m. Free Family Entertainment
11:00 a.m. Throwdown Chili Wagon Opens for the Public - $5.00 for Chili and a drink (Children under 5 eat free)
11:00 a.m. Chili Cooks' Throwdown Chili available - nominal donation for Rotary projects.
1:00 p.m. Turn in time for Competition Chili
1:15 p.m.  Competition Chili Tasting by the Public
1:30 p.m. Chili Judging by Local Government, Education, & Media Personalities.
2:30 p.m. Awards Presentations
3:00 p.m. Chili Wagon Closes

* Some times are tentative depending on number of cooks participating.

So come on out, at whatever time you can, and enjoy the festivities.

** In Tyler and East Texas, the Rotary Club of Tyler and the Tyler Rotary Foundation funds projects for the St. Louis School for Exceptional Children, the Tejas Mission of Mercy, the eradication of polio, and medical team trips to Central and South America. Local programs to benefit our schools and students include recognizing Most Outstanding High School Senior Students, Rotary Young Citizens Club, Rotary Youth Leadership Camp, and the Rotary Four Way Speech Contest. Local programs to benefit the community include donations to the Literacy Council, Salvation Army, Red Cross, PATH, Therapets, Breckenridge Village, Discovery Science Place and others. We send local citizens, as part of a short term Group Study Exchange team, to study the culture of foreign countries. The Club, in turn, hosts Group Study Exchange students from other countries. The Club also sends students as Ambassadorial Scholars to foreign countries for a year of study abroad. Mr. Chris Hoyt studied music at the Royal College of Music, University of London, in London, England last year.
