Our Projects

Rotary Youth Exchange Program

Each year, members of our club host young adults from other countries who travel to America to learn more about our country. These young people are usually graduate and post graduate students who are family members of Rotarians in other countries.

Rotary Ambassordial Scholarships

Purpose is to provide scholarships to students who will serve as ambassadors of goodwill to improve international understanding. Each scholarship provides $23,000 for one year of academic studies abroad.

Group Study Exchange Award (GSE)

This is a program for teams of outstanding young non-Rotarian business and professional people. Participants travel to Rotary districts in different countries to learn more about other cultures.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA)

Each year our club sponsors an outstanding boy and a girl student chosen by their high school counselor to attend a three-day conference at Camp Pirtle. The training is designed to teach leadership and team-building skills, and create lasting friendships with other top students.

Rotary Young Citizen’s Club

This program was organized in 1930 by the late Dr. Edgar H. Vaughn, a charter member. His objective was to create in students an awareness of the qualities that contribute to the development of useful citizens, and the promotion of important phases of character that would serve to strengthen the American way of life. A young man and woman are chosen annually from each of the participating public and private schools and colleges in Smith County. They are recognized at an awards luncheon at Tyler Junior College with their parents. This program has now spread to other Rotary clubs worldwide.
