Trustees of the Rotary Foundation present two special awards to Rotarians who render unusual service to the Foundation.
Citation for Meritorious Service Each year, the District Governor may recommend one individual for the Citation for Meritorious Service to the Foundation. This award recognizes significant and dedicated service by a Rotarian in the District to promote the programs of the Rotary Foundation and thus advance the Foundation’s goal of better understanding and friendly relations among people of the world. All recommendations are awarded.
Distinguished Service Award One member of the District may be nominated for the Distinguished Service Award each year. It is based on a much broader basis and spreads beyond the District level which normally covers an extended period of time. Individuals nominated for this award must have already received the Citation for Meritorious Service. Rotary International selects only 50 of the nominees to be recognized each year.
